Its time to be heard and be visible. We need you to attend! Regardless of your sexual orientation, whether you are Gay, Lesbian, Straight, Bi, or Transgender, we need you to stand up for all Ohioans' rights. On November 6, a great injustice was served by the Sixth District Court of Appeals, denying marriage equality in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Mike Dewine, who was just re-elected Ohio's Attorney General, continues to fight to deny gay Ohioans the right to marry and the right to have their legal, our-of-state marriages recognized, and now the appeals court has sided with him. It's time for Ohio and the Supreme Court to hear us. We need to be visible and be heard.
Why is this protest happening?
The U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, which upheld same-sex marriage bans in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, issued its decision three months after hearing same-sex marriage cases from all four states. In each of those states, federal judges had struck down same-sex marriage bans on constitutional grounds. The Supreme Court recently refused to hear cases in other states, leading to marriage equality in those states. Now, with the Sixth District Court of Appeals ruling against marriage equality, it's time for the Supreme Court to accept the expected appeal of the ruling and make marriage equality the law of the land. Let's show the Supreme Court that we believe in marriage equality!
